🌿 PASQUETTA AND THE BIRTHDAY OF ROME: A TALE OF TRADITIONS
🔹 Easter Monday (Pasquetta) – Also known as "Lunedì dell'Angelo" (Monday of the Angel), this is a day traditionally dedicated to outdoor trips and picnics with family and friends. This custom has ancient roots: for centuries, people have taken advantage of springtime to spend a day in the countryside, often bringing simple and rustic foods such as omelets, savory pies, and roasts. This year, at our banquet, this tradition meets the flavors of ancient Rome!
🔹 The Birthday of Rome – According to legend, as recounted by Varro, Rome was founded on April 21, 753 B.C., by Romulus, the city’s first king. This day was sacred as it coincided with the festival of the goddess Pales, protector of shepherds, who celebrated the Parilia, a purification ritual for livestock and fields. Today, the city commemorates its birth with historical reenactments, costumed parades, and performances that bring the age of great emperors back to life.
